Robert Bolick signs with B2’s Fukushima

Robert Bolick is moving on to the next chapter of his career.

After spending the last five years with Northport, the all-around 6-foot-2 guard has opted not to renew. Instead, he has signed with B.League Division II squad Fukushima.

The Firebonds made the announcement on Monday.

“I am very grateful and blesses to be a part of the Firebonds,” read Bolick’s statement.

“I’m truly honored to represent this team and showcase my skills and talent to achieve greater heights together with this new family. I can’t wait to play for in front of the Fukushima fans!”

Bolick, a three-time NCAA champion, was drafted as the third overall pick by the Batang Pier in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft.

In eight conferences played with Northport, he totalled 1,435 points for the Mikee Romero-owned franchise.

Last conference, he put up numbers of 21.57 points, 5.43 rebounds, 6.14 assists, and 1.0 steals per contest.

During his time in Northport however, wins were hard to come by.

For the past eight conferences, the Batang Pier only made the playoffs five times but only advanced to the semifinals once.

For the past two years, the guard out of Leyte only signed short-term deals with Northport — including a one-conference contract last February 1, hoping that an overseas team gains interest in him.

The Firebonds made the best offer for the 27-year-old San Beda product.

He will join a Fukushima team that missed the B2 playoffs by just one game after tallying a 28-32 record in the east.

The Firebonds are dead-set on making it to B1 this year.
