Irus Chua transfers to Letran High

Irus Chua now has a bigger stage to perform on.

The 5-foot-11 guard out of Brent International School has transferred to Letran High School for his senior high year.

Chua, 16, has caught widespread attention due to his scoring exploits National Basketball League-Pilipinas Youth and the Milcu Gotskills tournaments.

His best scoring game happened back on January 29, 2023, dropping 121 points in a Milcu game.

Now, he gets to play alongside arguably the best high school team in the country.

“I’m really happy to have the opportunity to play in the NCAA, and I’m very excited for this journey and how I can continue to improve and learn, not only from my coaches but also from my teammates,” Chua, who was part of the 2023 NBA Academy, told Tiebreaker Times.

The Squires are coming off a dominant run in the NCAA Season 98 tournament.

After finishing the elimination round as the top seed with an 8-1 record, Letran booted out Mapua in the Final Four before sweeping La Salle Green Hills.

Come NCAA Season 99, Allen Ricardo will still have an intact team with only Emman Anabo graduating.

Yes, Chua will still play alongside the likes of Andy Gemao, Jonathan Manalili, George Diamante, Syrex Silorio, and Basti Reyes.

And playing alongside them excites Chua as they will try to keep the crown in Intramuros.
