Wilson, Obusan move out of UST, commit to new schools

Two of University of Santo Tomas guards have decided to move out of Espana.

Gjerard Wilson and Gabriel Obusan have de-committed from the Growling Tigers and have committed to new schools.

Wilson, a 6-foot-1 guard who previously suited up for Lemoyne-Owens College, is headed to University of the East while Obusan, a 6-foot-4 point guard, went back home to Canada and enrolled at Georgian College.

Both were eligible to play for UAAP Season 86.

In a report by Rappler, Wilson, who still has two years of eligibility left as a masters student-athlete, opted to go to UE because of the system Jack Santiago runs.

“I really like the system here. I like how coach Jack Santiago is and how he runs the team. I like the whole staff,” said Wilson, who averaged 12.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists during his senior year at Lemoyne-Owens College.

Meanwhile, it is still unknown why Obusan decided to leave UST.

Obusan averaged 13.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.0 steals for Toronto during the 2023 SMART-NBTC National Finals.
