Scottie Thompson earns degree in Perpetual Help

Reigning PBA Most Valuable Palyer Scottie Thompson formally graduated from the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA on August 2, 2023.

Thompson’s journey to success both on and off the court has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Amidst cheers and applause from his fellow graduates, Thompson walked across the stage at the Plenary Hall of the PICC to receive his degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Major in Marketing Management.

He joined the ranks of 671 other students who graduated from the university in the 2022-2023 school year.

However, the achievements did not end with just a degree.

Thompson was also bestowed with the prestigious Dr/BGen Antonio Laperal Tamayo Leadership Plaque for Sports and Athletics. This honor was presented to him by the University’s President, Dr. Anthony Tamayo, Vice Chair Dr. Daisy Moran Tamayo, Executive Vice President Marjorie Gutierrez-Tangog, and Dr. Arnaldo De Guzman, the school director of UPH-Las Pinas City campus.

With this recognition, Thompson’s commitment to leadership both on and off the court has been acknowledged.

When asked about his graduation, Thompson humbly shared, “Gift ko po itong pagtatapos ko ng college sa aming baby ni Jinky na si Aster.”

Thompson’s journey in basketball began during his college years at the University of Perpetual Help. Playing for the Altas in the NCAA from Season 87 to 91, he quickly made an impact as the team’s sixth man. His stats were impressive, averaging 6.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in just 18.3 minutes per game.

It was evident that he had a bright future ahead in the sport.

Fast forward to today, Thompson’s prowess on the court earned him a spot in Gilas Pilipinas.

He will be part of the team competing in the highly anticipated FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, set to take place from August 25 to September 10.

Back in February 2023, the Altas also retired Thompson’s iconic No. 6 jersey.
