AVC: Young PWNVT falls to powerhouse China, drops to classis

After facing a five-set loss against Kazakhstan, the Philippine women’s national volleyball team experienced a straight-set defeat at the hands of the Asian powerhouse, China, 25-15, 25-20, 25-17, in the 22nd Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship on Thursday in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

The Filipinas dropped to the third place in Pool D, while China joined Kazakhstan at the top with identical 2-0 win-loss records.

Following losses in the first two sets, the Philippines displayed great determination and matched the Chinese team’s performance in the third set.

They managed to tie the game at 14-all before China initiated an impressive 11-3 rally to conclude the match, securing their second victory in the tournament.

With their chances of advancement eliminated, the Philippines will now enter the classification phase.

They are set to compete against the winless squad Hong Kong in their upcoming match, where they could potentially finish as high as ninth place.

Hong Kong, having suffered defeats from both China (12-25, 15-25, 6-25) and Kazakhstan (16-25, 23-25, 17-25), will be the Philippines’ opponent.

The match between the Philippines and Hong Kong for their first win in the group stage is scheduled for Friday at 1:00 p.m.
