Blacklist severs ties with Lunatix, puts MDL team under their management

Blacklist International has decided to terminate its partnership with the Malaysian Esports organization Lunatix after a series of revelations this week, claiming issues with salaries and food sustenance at the boot camp.

The announcement comes two days after Spin.ph published an article revealing that the team has been facing financial troubles even before the start of the MLBB Development League (MDL) Philippines Season 2.

According to Eviann Balquin, the team manager of Blacklist Lunatix, the team had difficulties providing food for their players and was using outdated phones for scrims due to the lack of support from the Lunatix organization. The situation became dire when they were kicked out of their boot camp in Bulacan before the start of the season.

With the situation worsening, the management of the team reached out to Moonton and MDL and has already received help from MPL Indonesia’s Rebellion Zion and MPL PH’s TNC Pro Team.

The MDL team is currently looking for another organization to support the team for the duration of the season after the failed promises from Lunatix.

In line with the issue, the MDL PH Committee has also released a statement saying that the issue is currently under investigation, and appropriate actions will be pursued to ensure the welfare of the players in the league.

“We are aware of the situation concerning Blacklist Lunatix and are currently investigating this issue. All teams are encouraged to prioritize player welfare to ensure that they are given the best platform to pursue professional esports growth. MDL Philippines is a development league that seeks to provide a safe space and opportunity for players to thrive and is reaching out to the affected parties accordingly,” the statement said.
