Jessica Miclat makes Filipinas return for OQT

Jessica Miclat is set to return to international duty with the Philippine Women’s National Football Team for its upcoming matches in the second round of the 2024 AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Perth, Australia.

The 25-year-old midfielder who played for University of California, Irvine is part of a pool of 29 players called up to compete against the likes of host nation Australia, Chinese Taipei, and Iran in Group A.

Goalkeepers Olivia McDaniel, Kiara Fontanilla, and Inna Palacios will make the trip. The likes of Alicia Barker, Angela Beard, Reina Bonta, Jessika Cowart, Sofia Harrison, Zoe Hudson, Hali Long, Eva Madarang, Dominique Randle, and Aaliyah Schinaman will compete for spots in the team’s backline.

When it comes to the midfield, Tahnai Annis, Anicka Castañeda, Sara Eggesvik, Kaya Hawkinson, Miclat, Quinley Quezada, Camille Rodriguez, Jaclyn Sawicki, Natalie Oca, and Isabella Pasion will fight for places in the middle of the park.

Top Filipinas goalscorer Sarina Bolden headlines the forwards who will try to score goals for the team. Shai Del Campo, Isabella Flanigan, Katrina Guillou, Chandler McDaniel, and Meryll Serrano shall also look to impress in the attacking third.

The Filipinas will face Chinese Taipei on October 26 at 4 p.m. at the HBF Park. They shall then face Australia on October 29 at 3 p.m. at the Perth Stadium. The Philippines will close its campaign against Iran on November 1 at the HBF Park at 4 p.m.

There is no time difference between Manila and Perth. The top team in Group A is assured of a ticket to the next round while the team that finishes in second place needs to top the rankings of the second-placers, which will involve two other teams.
