PVL: Rondina powers Choco Mucho to romp of Farm Fresh

Choco Mucho’s massive comeback in the opening frame set the tone of its 25-18, 25-13, 25-17 sweep of Farm Fresh in the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Centre, Thursday night.

Sisi Rondina’s offensive outburst and the exceptional defense coming from the rest of the Flying Titans allowed the team to unleash a backbreaking 12-0 run and crawl back from a 13-18 hole for a 1-0 advantage.

Choco Mucho never looked back from there, dominating the second frame before pulling away late in the third to chalk its first win of the tournament and bounce back from a four-set opening day loss to sister squad Creamline last Sunday.

“Syempre nagpapasalamat kami sa panalo namin. Although nung start medyo off talaga yung ginagawa namin. Buti na lang naka-recover kami nung first set na yun and nakuha namin yung panalo,” said Flying Titans head coach Dante Alinsunurin.

“Thankful din ako sa mga players ko kasi kung ano ‘man yung napagaralan namin nung past days para mapaghandaan ‘tong (Farm Fresh) nakuha naman namin,” added Alinsunurin.

Rondina fired 21 points on 17 attacks, three blocks, and an ace to go along with six excellent receptions for Choco Mucho, who upgraded its standing to 1-1, in just an hour and 10 minutes of action.

Des Cheng chipped in 10 markers, seven excellent digs, and five excellent receptions while Caitlyn Viray and Maddie Madayag had nine markers each in the victory.

Deanna Wong dished out 11 excellent sets laced with two points while Thang Ponce had 11 excellent digs.

Meanwhile, Farm Fresh, who has now lost all of its seven games in the PVL since joining the Invitational Conference, was paced by Trisha Tubu with 14 points on 12 attacks, an ace, and a block.

Kate Santiago had seven points and five excellent receptions while Jade Gentapa added six markers.

The Foxies remain winless in the PVL after seven games since they joined the Invitational Conference.
