Baser Amer dealing with familiar calf injury, Cariaso concerned

Baser Amer may be out for a while — again.

The 31-year-old guard suffered yet another calf injury, causing him to miss Blackwater’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup opener versus Converge on Wednesday.

“He had tightness in his calf, and then he pulled it two days ago,” Bossing head coach Jeff Cariaso said moments after their 103-84 win at the Philsports Arena.

This marks yet another setback for Amer due to the very same reason.

The eight-year pro has suffered calf injuries in the past two seasons, with the second one stalling what could have been a banner year for him.

It could be recalled that Amer was averaging 18.4 points in the 2022-23 Commissioner’s Cup until he strained his right calf.

Now it’s uncertain as to when he can return for Blackwater this season, where it aims for a better showing after going just 9-26 last season.

The Bossing also missed Ato Ular and Yousef Taha against the FiberXers as both big men aren’t 100 percent healthy yet.

Cariaso and Co. did get the job done by clobbering their foes but they are, of course, hoping to be complete as soon as possible.
