By: Justine Anne Gaerlan

ADAMSON University ripped Ateneo de Manila University with a 25-17, 25-12, 25-3 sweep to keep an unblemished 4-0 record in the UAAP Season 86 Girls’ High School Volleyball Tournament on Sunday at the Adamson University Gym.

The Lady Baby Falcons were off to their most dominant start in the third set, soaring to a 14-0 run before a service error from Sofia Arasan gave the Blue Eagles their first point.

Ateneo struggled to find its footing as Adamson continued to pull ahead, 20-3.

The Lady Baby Falcons remained in control for the remainder of the set as a service ace from Mishka Estrada and an attack from Seanne Ordonio finished off the match in Adamson’s favor, 25-3.UAAP-86-HSVB-Girls-NSNU-vs-DLSZ-Celine-Marsh UAAP 86 HSVB: Adamson girls romp to 4-0; NUNS vents ire on DLSZ ADMU AdU DLSU FEU News NU UAAP Volleyball - philippine sports news

Meanwhile, reigning girls’ champion National University Nazareth School returned to its winning ways taking a 25-11, 25-9, 25-22 sweep over De La Salle Zobel.

After dominating the first two sets, the Lady Bullpups, who were coming off a stunning three-set loss to the UST Jr. Tigresses last November 18, figured in a close affair with the Jr. Lady Spikers.

DLSZ held an early advantage before a string of errors from NUNS increased its lead to five, 16-11.

After both squads went back and forth, the Lady Bullpups staged a comeback to overtake the lead, 21-20.

A kill block by Karyll Miranda put the Lady Bullpups at match point before a Celine Marsh attack ended the match.

NUNS evened its record to 2-2 and holds the fourth spot in the standings, while DLSZ slid to 1-2 and stands at fifth. Ateneo, on the other hand, went down to 1-3 for sixth.

FEU-D, on the other hand, extended its win streak to three after quickly dispatching Ateneo, 25-8, 25-12, 25-4.

The Baby Tamaraws opened the third frame with a dominating 9-0 stretch sparked by back-to-back attacks from Vince Rebusquillo.

FEU-D stayed in charge throughout the set as all of Ateneo’s four points came off errors.

Leading with a score of 12-3, FEU-D notched 11 points in succession credited to a series of service aces from Tyler Ramos and attacks from Eligio Naguit.

After the Blue Eagles scored off a service error from Ramos, Luis Miguel delivered two consecutive kills to wrap up the game at 25-4.

FEU-D finds itself in a three-way tie for second place with NUNS and Adamson.

DLSZ dropped to 1-3 while Ateneo slipped to 0-4.
