Taka Minowa promoted to Akari, Nxled head of volleyball ops

Japanese head coach Taka Minowa is poised to assume a more significant role in the upcoming 2024 season of the Premier Volleyball League.

Akari has announced that Minowa, who guided Nxled to an impressive debut in the Second All-Filipino Conference, has been appointed as the Director of Volleyball Operations for both the Chargers and the Chameleons.

“Following an impressive coaching debut in the Premier Volleyball League, Nxled Chameleons’ head coach Taka Minowa will now serve as the Director of Volleyball Operations for both his squad and the Akari Chargers,” the organization stated.

“Coach Minowa will oversee the volleyball program of the sister teams starting the next PVL season, but he will continue as the chief tactician of the Chameleons,” the statement continued.PVL-AFC-Nxled-vs.-Farm-Fresh-Taka-Minowa-7334-scaled Taka Minowa promoted to Akari, Nxled head of volleyball ops News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

The husband of Filipina volleyball star Jaja Santiago will retain his position as the head coach for Nxled.

Akari also mentioned that the team will soon announce the name of its interim head coach for the opening conference of the PVL. Additionally, new assistant coaches will be added to the coaching staff of both Nxled and Akari.

“Furthermore, an interim Chargers head coach will be announced soon, along with some new assistant coaches for Nxled and Akari,” Akari stated.

“With this move, Akari management hopes for the Chargers and Chameleons to ascend the ladder and contend for a title when the new PVL season kicks off in February next year.”

Earlier this month, the Chargers announced the resignation of head coach Jorge Souza de Brito.

Akari concluded the season-ending conference with a 5-6 record, securing seventh place, while the Chargers capped off their maiden stint with a 4-7 record at ninth place.
