Troy Rosario’s calf injury sidelines him for Blackwater’s conference finale

Troy Rosario will no longer see action in Blackwater’s final game of the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup due to a calf injury.

The veteran forward got hurt during the Bossing’s eventual loss to NLEX last December 22, according to head coach Jeff Cariaso.

It’s the same reason why he sat out their match versus NorthPort on Friday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum. The 31-year-old was clad in street clothes and helplessly witnessed his side absorb a 106-89 beatdown.

Cariaso and Co. will wrap up their campaign against a Top Four-seeking San Miguel Beer next Friday, January 12, also at the Big Dome.

It sure is a tough way for Rosario to finish the conference, which was supposed to be a promising one for him after a solid PBA On Tour campaign.

But it became somewhat of a roller-coaster ride instead, and it didn’t help that Blackwater seemingly ran out of luck after a successful season debut.

After beating Converge, 103-84, last November 8, the Bossing – just in their first conference under Cariaso – have yet to taste another victory.

Friday’s loss was already their ninth consecutive. It was also in that game where sophomore forward Ato Ular suffered an apparent leg injury.

Rosario will finish the conference with per-game averages of 10.0 points on 51.6-percent field goal shooting, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
