Highly-touted Brooke Van Sickle chooses Petro Gazz

The tug of war for Brooke Van Sickle has been won.

Petro Gazz secured the services of outside hitter Brooke Van Sickle to bolster its campaign for the upcoming 2024 Premier Volleyball League season.

“An Angel sent from heaven has arrived to refuel our journey! We’re thrilled to have you here, Brooke Van Sickle,” said the Angels in a Facebook post.

The former NCAA Division I player was coming off a stint with Cypriot volleyball club AEL Limassol.

The 5-foot-9 spiker started her collegiate stint with Oregon University before transferring to University of Hawaii to play beach volleyball.

PLDT also made a bid to sign her before Van Sickle ultimately decided to go to Petro Gazz.

Van Sickle has an outstanding resume, winning the MVP, Best Scorer, and Best Outside Spiker to lead the 2021 US NCAA Big West’s All-Conference Team during her final year with the Rainbow Wahine.

She is set to reinforce a Petro Gazz open hitter rotation that includes Jonah Sabete, Nicole Tiamzon, and Myla Pablo.

The Angels were coming off a disappointing sixth-place campaign in the Second All-Filipino Conference, where they started the conference with a 4-0 record before eventually losing five of their last seven games to bow out of semis contention.
