PBA 3×3: Uratex, Navy off to 2-0 starts in women’s invitational

Uratex Dream and Navy-Go for Gold had impressive starts in the PBA Women’s 3×3 Invitational at Ayala Malls Circuit Makati, securing victories in both of their scheduled games.

Led by the stellar performance of Kaye Pingol, Uratex Dream defeated Angelis Resort and Philippine Air Force consecutively.

In the opening match, Dream emerged victorious with a score of 20-15 against Angelis, with Kaye Pingol contributing 12 points to the team.

Following this, in a closely contested game against Air Force, Pingol continued to shine, scoring eight crucial points in Dream’s 19-16 win.

This propelled Uratex Dream to an early lead in the standings with a perfect 2-0 record.

Meanwhile, Navy-Go-For-Gold secured a 14-10 victory against Gilas-B in the PBA Women’s 3×3 Invitational, to join Uratex.

Trixie Antiquera, a former UAAP Finals MVP, led Navy with six points, including a crucial deuce that sealed the win for the debutant team.

Andrea Tongco and Afril Bernadino contributed four points, leading Navy on a closing 5-0 run to secure the victory.

However, Angelis Resort made a strong comeback with a remarkable 19-17 overtime upset against Gilas-A also on Monday.

Allana Lim finished the game with 11 points, scoring six of the team’s last seven points, making it a heartbreaking loss for Gilas-A, which earlier fell to Gilas-B with a score of 16-14, resulting in a 0-2 record.

Jhazmin Joson led Gilas-B against Navy with five points, and despite the loss, they held a 1-1 record, tying with Angelis Resort.

The top four teams at the end of the three-leg eliminations will advance to the knockout stage scheduled for next month at Ayala Malls Glorietta.
