Ara Galang aims for greater impact with Chery Tiggo in PVL

Following their bronze finish in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Champions League, Ara Galang vowed to step it up a notch for her new team Chery Tiggo in the upcoming Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

Galang punched in 10 points on nine attacks and one block to help the Crossovers salvage a third-place end to their Champions League campaign at the expense of College of St. Benilde on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

“Siguro mas magiging reliable ako not just in points, pero syempre sa lahat ng skills and sa pagiging veteran ko. Pipilitin kong dapat maaasahan nila ako,” added the former F2 Logistics star.

The three-time UAAP champion, who joined the team just last month, hopes that their participation in the Champions League can help improve Chery Tiggo’s chemistry ahead of the upcoming PVL wars.

The Crossovers finished second in the elimination phase with a 3-1 standing.

However, their title hopes ended at the hands of Petro Gazz, losing in the knockout semifinals via sweep.

“Masaya rin kahit papaano marami kaming natutunan dito bago mag-PVL. Hopefully, ma-polish pa namin yung mga galaw namin and mas mag-work as a team,” said Galang.

Galang joined Chery Tiggo after F2 Logistics decided to disband their PVL roster last December.

Despite being with the Cargo Movers for the last eight years, the 29-year-old open hitter from Pampanga said that she experienced no problems adjusting to her new coaches and teammates.

“Hindi ako nahihirapan in terms of pakikisama and nag-eenjoy ako every time na nakakasama ko sila sa training and game. So far so good.”
