From bootcamp manager to head coach: Ynot remains grateful for fruitful three-year stay at Omega

Tony “Ynot” Senedrin is one of the select few coaches in the MPL Philippines who have experience competing in both the MLBB Southeast Asian Cup and the M-series World Championship.

Interestingly, he was assigned as bootcamp manager for a season before his transfer to ONIC Philippines.

Most people would see this change in role as a demotion, but for Ynot, it’s another significant role that he fulfilled to its fullest.

“Yung pagiging bootcamp manager ko nun, hindi ko naman siya tinake as demotion. Kumbaga, nandun ako sa lugar kung saan, bumalik ako sa esports mula sa aking nakaraang laro noon na makatulong sa susunod na henerasyon ng mga manlalaro,” the ONIC head coach told Tiebreaker Times in an exclusive interview.

“Being a bootcamp manager, knowing yung mga bagay-bagay, pagluluto, housework, mga ganyan. Ginawa ko siya ng buong puso dahil alam kong isang aspeto yun na makakatulong sa mga manlalaro.”

Before being assigned as bootcamp manager, Ynot coached Smart Omega for six seasons.

His first venture with Omega was in MPL Philippines Season 6 where he helped the Salik “Hadji” Imam-led squad to a runner-up finish in the MPL PH and then settling for a 5th-6th place finish in the M2 World Championship.

Back in Season 9, he once again led a squad starring Duane “Kelra” Pillas to a runner-up finish in the MPL PH then a third-place finish in the MLBB Southeast Asian Cup 2022.

“Sobrang grateful ako sa kanila to be honest kasi I spent three years of my life with them so I won’t be here without them,” Ynot said of Omega.

After a one-season break as coach in the MPL Philippines, the former DOTA standout is eager to make waves once again in the professional scene.

“Yung motivation ko talaga is passion ko ang magcoach. Yun yung unang goal ko nung bumalik ako eh. Doesn’t really matter what team I’m with, it’s more of yung excitement ko being a coach again,” shared Ynot.

With his long list of successes locally and internationally, Ynot is thrilled with the potential he’s seeing in the current ONIC PH squad.

“We can go all the way, definitely. Pinaka limit na lang namin yung sarili namin. Kung skills pag-uusapan, no doubt nandiyan. Disiplina, nandiyan. Chemistry, nandiyan. Na samin na lang kung paano namin gagamitin lahat ng pieces na yun.”
