Spikers Turf: D’Navigators maintain perfect record, overcome VNS

D’Navigators preserved their immaculate record by fending off pesky VNS-Nasty, 25-20, 25-23, 26-24, Friday night in the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

With the D’Navigators at match point, 24-23, Edward Camposano’s service hit the net and bounced right out to give the Griffins some hope at 24-all.

However, VNS shot itself on the foot as Jester Bornel and Wewe Medina committed back-to-back errors to give the D’Navigators the win in one hour and 35 minutes.

“Sumabay kami doon sa VNS, kung mabagal ang VNS mabagal din kami pero okay lang at least nakuha kahit papaano, nakuha sa tiyaga,” said D’Navigators head coach Boyet Delmoro.

The D’Navigators rose to 4-0 to join Cignal atop the nine-team field.

Francis Saura once again led the D’Navigators with 12 points on 10 attacks and two blocks, while Camposano chipped in 10 points of his own.

Rick Adao also shined in defense with eight digs and eight receptions while Jayvee Sumagaysay delivered nine points.

The D’Navigators will have their biggest test to date on Wednesday when they meet powerhouse Criss Cross at the Paco Arena.

Medina paced the Griffins with 18 points on 16 spikes, a block, and an ace he laced with seven excellent receptions.

Kenneth Culabat and Bornel also got nine points apiece in the defeat.

VNS (0-3) will face fellow winless team Richmarc Sports 3B next Friday.
