PVL: Nxled outshines Capital1, rises to 7th

Ivy Lacsina took over down the stretch as Nxled rallied from a huge hole in the third set to sweep Capital1, 25-13, 25-23, 25-22, in a battle between also-ran teams in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig, Tuesday.

The Solar Spikers looked determined to extend the match with an 11-2 start in the third frame, but Camille Victoria, Lia Pelaga, Jai Atienza, and Jho Maraguinot conspired to tie the match at 12.

After a couple of exchanges with Capital1 taking back the lead, 15-14, Lacsina grabbed the spotlight, scoring eight of the final 11 points for the Chameleons’ victory in one hour and 36 minutes.

“We will just focus on the next game against Petro Gazz. This win will boost our confidence heading into that match,” said Nxled head coach Taka Minowa.

The Chameleons grabbed their fourth win in 10 matches, tying sister team Akari for the seventh spot.

Victoria played opposite due to Lycha Ebon’s unavailability because of a minor injury and sparkled with 17 points on 14 attacks and three blocks.

“Lycha Ebon had some issues, so we used Camille Victoria as an opposite hitter, and she received POG honors. We might make that choice again against Petro Gazz,” added Minowa.

Lacsina finished with 12 points while Maraguinot added eight points and seven digs.

Des Clemente was the lone Solar Spiker in double figures with 10 points, including four aces, as they slumped to their seventh straight defeat for a 1-9 record.

Jorelle Singh contributed eight points, while Yan Layug had six.
