Buding Duremdes teams up with FEU teammates at Cignal

Buding Duremdes is set to join Cignal for the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

The HD Spikers, who entered the season with just 13 players, have now strengthened their already formidable floor defense, anchored by Dawn Catindig, with the addition of Duremdes.

Duremdes parted ways with Chery Tiggo during the off-season, concluding a rollercoaster four-year stint that included helping the team secure the league’s inaugural professional conference title in 2021.

The Crossovers struggled in subsequent seasons, failing to return to the finals over the next eight conferences. However, they managed to reach the semifinals three times, including consecutive appearances in the 2023 and 2024 All-Filipino Conferences.

The former Far Eastern University (FEU) defensive standout saw her playing time diminish with the arrival of Jennifer Nierva and later Karen Verdeflor.

At Cignal, Duremdes is expected to provide depth and support behind seasoned libero Catindig in the five-month-long tournament.

Duremdes will also reunite with former FEU teammates Gel Cayuna, Gyzelle Sy, and Jovelyn Fernandez, as well as head coach Shaq delos Santos, who previously mentored her during her stints with FEU and Petron in the now-defunct Philippine Super Liga.

The HD Spikers made a strong start to the All-Filipino Conference, dominating Farm Fresh with a straight-sets victory, 25-15, 25-18, 25-21, last Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
