Sam Cantada fuels Adamson’s Final Four push with focus, faith

By: Czarina Agaton

Adamson University outside hitter Sam Cantada is determined to stay hungry and focused as the UAAP High School Girls’ Volleyball Tournament Final Four approaches.

With no room for complacency, she emphasizes the importance of giving their best effort in every game.

Adamson clinched their eighth win of the season with a thrilling five-set victory over the Junior Tigresses, 25-16, 16-25, 25-12, 21-25, 15-10. It was a vengeful win for the Lady Falcons as UST defeated them in the first round.

This triumph ties them with UST and FEU-D for the second spot in the standings, each boasting an 8-3 record.

Cantada played a pivotal role in avenging their first-round loss to UST, delivering an impressive performance with 21 points, including 18 attacks and three service aces.

Reflecting on their earlier shortcomings, Cantada explained that the team has been diligently addressing their lapses and preparing for each game by studying their opponents’ strengths and weaknesses.

“Before kami maglaban, nag-viewing kami.

As the defending champions from last season, previously led by Shaina Nitura, Cantada and her squad are determined to avoid overconfidence and continue pushing themselves to excel.

With one crucial match remaining against the FEU Baby Tamaraws, Adamson aims to secure a twice-to-beat advantage heading into the playoffs. Cantada reaffirmed Adamson’s commitment to continuous improvement.
