NLEX gears up for PH Cup with confidence-boosting leadership training

NLEX recently took a break from the hardwood to strengthen their team dynamics and personal growth ahead of the 2025 PBA Philippine Cup.

From March 3 to 5, the team attended a three-day Basic Leadership seminar at the First Pacific Leadership Academy in Antipolo facilitated by the Personal Success Institute (PSI).

The seminar was led by esteemed instructor Kokoy Reonisto, a specialist in personal and organizational transformation focusing on experiential learning and sustainability.

The combined lectures on theoretical foundations and leadership tools, hands-on activities designed for real-world application, and group discussions that encouraged collaborative insights and reflection proved invaluable for the Road Warriors as they learned the importance of leadership within the ranks.

Moreover, the players learned techniques to manage stress, enhance creativity, and improve communication — vital skills for achieving professional and personal goals.

NLEX Road Warriors head coach Jong Uichico shared how the experience reshaped the players’ perspective on their roles within the team.

“This was truly eye-opening for the players,” Uichico said. “They realized how important every one of them is in the greater scheme of things for our basketball team. From our veterans to our rookies, they now understand that everyone plays a vital role in the team’s success.”

For NLEX veteran Kevin Alas, the seminar strengthened the team’s bond and gave their newcomers a confidence boost.

“We got to know each other more on a deeper level, and the rookies realized that even if they’re new to the team, they can still be leaders. We want them to know that their voices are heard, and we will listen to them,” said Alas.

Indeed, the seminar has allowed the Road Warriors to enhance their skills both on and off the court, bringing with them a new level of confidence and accountability.

Ready to take charge, they are better prepared to drive the team toward greater success.
