Chrisveil reigns in NBTC South Luzon; Momsie’s, St. Jude-Dasma, Uncle Drew secure Nationals spots

CHRISVEIL Sports made Cavite proud by capturing the 2025 Smart-NBTC South Luzon Regional Championship, defeating Momsie’s Kitchenette of Laguna, 71-65, on Wednesday at the PCU-Dasmariñas Gym.

The Caviteño squad delivered a dominant fourth-quarter surge, showcasing composure in the clutch to seal the victory with an 8-0 finishing run, securing the coveted title.

Jancarl Gadlan led the charge for Chrisveil, scoring 10 of his 20 points in the first quarter while also contributing seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. His stellar performance earned him the Regional Most Outstanding Player award.

Chrisveil also benefitted from key contributions across the board. Raphael Artiga drained four three-pointers en route to 12 points, Francis Austin Cervantes provided nine points, five rebounds, and three blocks, while Aaron Kirk Justin Yu and Raven Tolentino combined for 13 points and 15 rebounds. The tournament was presented by SM Supermalls and Playtime Cares.

On their road to the championship, Chrisveil dethroned defending titleholder Batang Tiaong in the Round of 16, rewriting the narrative after EZ Jersey-Doc Boleros of CAMANAVA (North Luzon), Toyomoto Auto Supply of Davao (Mindanao), and Team Khalifa of Cebu (Visayas) successfully defended their regional crowns.

Chrisveil also made history as the first team this season to win the championship while representing the Regionals’ host province.

Despite the loss, Momsie’s Kitchenette put up a tough fight, fueled by the sharpshooting of Justine Yeoj Glorioso, who knocked down seven three-pointers for a game-high 23 points.

Mark Clarence Piaña, a member of the tournament’s Mythical Team, orchestrated the offense with eight assists while adding six points.

SJCDC and Uncle Drew clinched the final South Luzon berths to the Nationals by winning their respective Regional Wildcard games.

SJCDC overcame longtime rival Baby Dolphins, 82-73, behind Stanley Troy Gicoso’s all-around effort of 21 points, four rebounds, and four assists, along with Barquin’s 11 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Uncle Drew edged Enverga U Wildcats of Quezon in a thrilling 72-68 contest, powered by Montilla’s 19 points and five rebounds.

With all 16 regional berths secured, attention now turns to the Wildcard Tournaments, set for March 27-30 at Gameville Ball Park and CCF Center. These events will determine the final two spots for the 2025 Smart-NBTC National Finals, presented by SM Supermalls.
