La Salle, NU, Adamson bounce back in Filoil

After suffering tough defeats last Sunday, UAAP squads De La Salle University Green Archers, National University Bulldogs, and Adamson Soaring Falcons picked up return wins, Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

La Salle, who suffered a tough overtime loss to the UP Fighting Maroons, staved off the Mapua University Cardinals, 68-61, to go to 2-1 in Group A of the 2019 Filoil Flying V Preaseason Cup.

Encho Serrano led the way with 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and a steal, sparking La Salle’s late breakaway. Skipper Andrei Caracut added 11 points, while Justine Baltazar added nine points, 12 boards, and three swats.

Mapua, who fell to 0-3, were led by Lawrence Victoria with 14 points.

The Bulldogs also bounced back after taking an 82-77 win over the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, in Group B.

Three players scored in double-digits for NU, who did not have Shaun Ildefonso for the contest.

Dave Ildefonso paced NU with 19 points while Robert Minverva chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds. The duo of Alec Stockton and Ino Comboy also had 15 and 13 points respectively, for the 0-2 Tamaraws.

Adamson, who was handed a heartbreaking loss by the Lyceum Pirates last Friday, escaped the College of Saint Benilde Blazers, 82-75.

Powering the Soaring Falcons to a 2-1 slate in Group B was Lenda Douanga with 19 points and 16 rebounds.

The backcourt duo of Jerrick Ahanmisi and Jerom Lastimosa added 17 and 16 points, respectively.
