Parks alleges Abueva called his girlfriend the b-word, Calvin claims Ray’s partner cursed at him

Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. did not hide his disgust with Calvin Abueva after the latter allegedly offended his girlfriend late in the game between the Blackwater Elite and the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters, Friday evening at SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Parks, Jr. said that Abueva cursed his girlfriend, Maika Rivera, by calling her a “b*tch” before flashing an indecent gesture. The incident occurred with 11 seconds left in the match, the same time the Beast incurred his sixth and final foul.

“Calvin Abueva called my girl a bitch, and on top of that jacked off in front of her. You don’t do that to no type of fan, no family, and no loved one,” Parks, Jr. said. “You don’t do that to any fan, let alone somebody that I care about.”

“You don’t do that – kababaeng tao nun!

“I understand he plays with antics and plays with people’s minds, but why can’t he do that to me? Why would he go off to the side of the court to nobody who had nothing to do?” he continued.

The 26-year-old admitted that he did not see how it all unfolded, as he only learned about it after the game. The Elite lost, 98-103, putting an end to their three-game winning streak in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

“I didn’t see it happen, I was told after the game. If I saw it happen, I’ll be honest with you, I would have got thrown out the game,” the 26-year-old said.

“For real. He’s lucky I didn’t see it.”

Asked what sanctions Abueva deserves following this incident, the rookie out of National University hopes that the enigmatic forward out of San Sebastian will incur fines, or at least issue an apology towards his girlfriend.

“He has to straight-up get fined and has to do apology at least. If you have enough dignity in you to do that,” he opined.

“How would you feel if you were in my shoes? How do you feel if that was your mother, your wife? The mother of your kids? That’s not right. Some things have to be done. I’m not going to let this just pass. This needs to get settled.”

Meanwhile, Abueva had his own perspective.

Abueva defended himself, saying that Rivera initiated the trash talk. The eight-year league veteran asserted that Rivera cursed at him, and that the latter even called him a monkey while he was on the court.

“Ang ginawa sakin, sinabi sa’kin, ‘Pakyu ka’,” Abueva recalled through a phone interview. “Foul rin naman sa’kin yun.

“Ako, gago ako sa court. Pero kung gagaguhin mo ‘ko, sino ka? ‘Wag sila mag-angas na parang ako lang may mali.”

Regarding Parks Jr.’s call for an apology, Abueva was defiant.

Bakit ako magpa-public apology?

“Nasa court tayo, wala naman tayo sa labas. Bakit, sino ba may mali dun? Ako ba nauna?” said Abueva.
