LVPI, PSL to hunt Molina’s, Delos Santos’ online bullies

Ces Molina and Shaq Delos Santos have played pivotal roles in the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team’s bronze medal finish in the recently-concluded ASEAN Grand Prix.

But both Molina and Delos Santos were not spared from criticisms made by a bulk of Philippine volleyball enthusiasts.

It came to a point that the Petron coach and veteran spiker were on the receiving end of verbal abuse and even damaging accusations, causing the two to trend online for all the wrong reasons. The hashtag #ShaqResign was ven the top trending topic in the Philippines last Sunday during the national team’s conquest of Vietnam.

The Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. and the Philippine Superliga Inc. have therefore released a joint statement regarding the matter.

“The Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. and the Philippine Superliga Inc. condemn in the strongest terms the abuse by some quarters of access to social media by using lewd and vicious language and accusations of inappropriate relations directed at Ms. Ces Molina, member of the women’s national team, to the recently-concluded ASEAN Grand Prix held in Thailand, and Mr. Shaq Delos Santos of the said team,” the statement read.

“The comments, made under the cowardly cloak of anonymity will not go unpunished. We are working with overseas and local authorities to track down these promoters of hate and bring them to justice,” as included in the statement.

“We can speculate on their motive-pure hate or envy, to pressure the coaching staff to change the lineup and thus benefit others, or to promote some bizarre cause- but rest assured the full force of the law shall bear on them.”

In the meantime, Molina and Delos Santos are setting their sights on Petron’s opening game in the PSL Invitational Cup this week. The Blaze Spikers will face arch-rivals F2 Logistics Cargo Movers on Saturday.
