Robins-Hardy flaunts all-around arsenal as Cignal turns back Marinerang Pilipina

CAVITE CITY — Behind another strong offensive connection, the Cignal HD Spikers bucked a third-set hiccup to dispatch the Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers, 25-14, 25-14, 22-25, 25-18, Tuesday at the Bacoor Strike Gym here.

Fil-Hawaiian playmaker Alohi Robins-Hardy orchestrated the offense for HD Spikers to open their second round campaign in the 2019 PSL Invitationals on a rousing note. She posted a triple-double of 11 excellent sets laced with 11 points and 12 excellent digs.

Cignal skipper Rachel Daquis complimented Robins-Hardy’s offense. She fired a game-high 17 points built on 11 attacks, to help Cignal stretch their unbeaten record to 4-0 in Pool C.

The troika of Mylene Paat, Jannine Navarro, and Ranya Musa were also instrumental in the four-set conquest. Paat supplied 10 markers anchored on a pair of kill blocks; meanwhile, Navarro and Musa contributed eight and seven points, respectively.

Jovelyn Gonzaga and Cherry May Vivas chimed in six markers apiece. Cignal defensive specialist Jheck Dionela collected 17 digs and five receptions.

“Full-force pa rin ‘yung tao namin. Happy ako kasi lahat ng ensayo namin nagagawa; at the same time, nakikita ko rin ‘yung effort ng bawat isa na manalo,” Cignal head coach Edgar Barroga said.

Seth Rodriguez finished with 12 points from 11 attacks and a block to no avail.

Marinerang Pilipina remained winless in four matches.

Ivy Remulla and Floremel Rodriguez each had eight points, while Judith Abil managed seven markers, nine receptions and 14 digs in a losing cause. Marinerang Pilipina captain Rhea Ramirez dished out 13 excellent sets. Libero Cath Pollentes had 17 digs and five receptions.
