Valdez, Mau banner PWNVT SEA Games team as Dimaculangan added

Touted as two of the finest prolific scorers in the local volleyball landscape, Alyssa Valdez and Kalei Mau will team up to set the court ablaze in a bid to strike gold in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

The Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. unveiled on Wednesday that Valdez and Mau are a part of the 14-woman team that will represent the country in the regional biennial meet this November.

This will be Valdez’s third time donning the tricolors of the country for the SEA Games. Meanwhile, Mau is set for her breakthrough stint in the said tournament.

Joining the hard-hitting duo at the forefront of the national team’s arsenal are Ces Molina, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Mylene Paat, and Eya Laure.

On the other hand, defensive specialists Kath Arado and reigning Best Libero of the ASEAN Grand Prix second leg Dawn Macandili have the task of patrolling the floor for the Nationals.

After missing out on the 2017 edition of the multi-nation meet, Jia Morado is now set to return. She shoulders the playmaking responsibility alongside battle-tested setter Rhea Dimaculangan.

Completing the cast are the middle blockers. Leading the defensive-oriented stalwarts are national team mainstay Aby Maraño, Mika Reyes, as well as two-time ASEAN Grand Prix Best Middle Blocker Majoy Baron and her celebrated partner, Maddie Madayag.

Head coach Shaq Delos Santos will call the shots for the Philippine contingents when the tournament starts on November 28.
