NorthPort hoping for the best as Robert Bolick to get MRI

NorthPort could not fully celebrate its 127-119 stunner of San Miguel in 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup action on Wednesday.

The Batang Pier are all hoping for the best after rookie Robert Bolick hurt his knee during the fourth quarter of the tightly-contested battle at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

The 24-year-old got hurt with 8:06 left in the fourth quarter after attacking the rim. Bolick did not return to the match, finishing with nine points, six assists, three rebounds, and a block.

Bolick, however, respectfully declined to grant interviews from members of the media after the match.

The rookie was the second player from NorthPort to suffer an injury versus SMB. Russel Escoto hurt his shoulder with at the 11:03-mark of the second period, though he managed to return.

“Ang concern ko ngayon si Bolick. Sana wala namang grabeng nangyari,” said coach Pido Jarencio.

For Christian Standhardinger, he would have exchanged his debut win with a loss and still have everybody healthy.

“It’s a big win but like, it’s a big loss,” lamented Standhardinger, on the other hand, of Bolick’s injury. “I hope that his knees aren’t messed up.

“If I could… This sounds, okay, maybe I get controversial now for you guys. But if I could choose between Bolick getting injured or us winning this game, I would have chosen Bolick staying healthy,” Standhardinger added.

“That’s how amazing I think he is as a player, and that’s how much we need him long-term. I’m just hoping with all my heart that he recovers early and that he’s going to be fine.”
