San Lorenzo standout Soulemane Chabi Yo transfers to UST

The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers are ready for the long haul.

Once Cameroonian student-athlete Steve Akomo exhausts his eligibility, there will be a new big man waiting in the wings, as the Growling Tigers were able to secure former Colegio de San Lorenzo Griffins big man Soulemane Chabi Yo.

However, according to a report, no piracy occurred during the transfer process.

Colegio de San Lorenzo decided to disband its men’s basketball team, according to the said report. All of their student-athletes now have to look for new schools, including Chabi Yo.

Moreover, San Lorenzo head coach Bonnie Garcia is part of Aldin Ayo’s staff.

The Beninese student-athlete, who turned 22 years old last January 3, led the Griffins to the UCBL Season 2 Championship.

Standing at 6-foot-6, Chabi Yo posted norms of 20.0 points and 15.0 rebounds in the tournament en route to the league’s Best Foreign Player award.

His last tour of duty for the Griffins came during the PCCL NCR Finals.

Chabi Yo has to undergo a year of residency before being able to play during the UAAP Season 82 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
