SEAG ‘Golden Girl’ Gina Iniong approaching 2020 with Conviction

Rest can wait for Gina “Conviction” Iniong as she aims to kickstart her 2020 the same way she ended it – victorious, motivated, and ready to go.

Nearly a month after striking gold in the Southeast Asian Games for kickboxing, Iniong returns to The Home Of Martial Arts against Asha “Knockout Queen” Roka in ONE: Fire and Fury at the Mall Of Asia Arena on January 31.

“I am happy to get that gold medal given that this is my first time, but there’s no time to rest as I will be back soon,” Iniong said.

“Up next for me is the Mall Of Asia Arena, where I hope to bring my winning ways.”

It was certainly a busy end of the year for conviction, both inside and outside of the Circle. She married her longtime partner Richard Araos.

They had to hold off their celebrations while she prepared for the SEA Games, though. Now, they look to squeeze all of the time that they can before the 30-year-old Filipina starts training for Roka.

It is certainly challenging being a martial artist, but Iniong has her personal life and professional career balanced.

“Five days after our wedding, I was back training for the Southeast Asian Games. Our condition was for me to get the gold medal, and I am happy to live up to that promise,” Iniong said.

“But now here I am again, and I’ll be competing once more. He just told me to focus on this one. I am really lucky to have a supportive partner.”

Iniong last competed in February when she scored a close decision win over Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan at ONE: Clash of Legends. With an 8-4 record, a win in January could put Iniong closer to the ONE Atomweight World Title currently held by “Unstoppable” Angela Lee.
