Roger Pogoy, Baser Amer bury the hatchet

Roger Pogoy has aired his side regarding Baser Amer’s allegations of pinching during the first two games of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinal series between the TNT KaTropa and the Meralco Bolts.

And it looks like the third-year guard out of Far Eastern University has come up with more realizations.

Amer made those claims back in Game Two last Tuesday, in a forgettable match for the KaTropa. Then, TNT lost by 20 points, 94-114, and allowed the Bolts to level the series at 1-1.

Pogoy had a rough night as well, missing all five of his shots to end up scoreless. For the Cebuano cager, he feels like his antics had taken his focus away from the game.

Pogoy even recalled the time he hit Arwind Santos in the groin in Game Two of the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup Finals between TNT and San Miguel Beermen, where he also laid a big fat egg.

“Siguro nung Game Two, ayaw ata ni Lord ng mga ganun so pumangit ‘yung laro ko. Kasi naalala ko ‘yung last time na zero points ako, ‘yung kay Arwind eh,” the 26-year-old cager said.

He then made it a point to just play his game in Game Three on Thursday. And that, fortunately, led to better things for TNT.

Pogoy finally regained his touch, shooting 46.2-percent from the field for 15 points along with eight rebounds as the KaTropa reigned victorious, 101-97, to move one win away from the Finals.

“Focus na lang sa laro kesa sisirain ‘yung laro ng iba,” said Pogoy moments after the match at the SMART Araneta Coliseum. “Bumawi ako ngayong Game 3 na hindi na mag-gaganon, focus lang sa laro.”

“The way na ganun ‘yung nilalaro niya, focus lang siya, naka-score ata ng fifteen points eh,” Amer said of Pogoy.

And it looks like the former Gilas Pilipinas teammates have already patched things up.

“Sabi ko nga kay Amer, ‘Amer, friends na tayo Amer ah’,” Pogoy said.

“Wala lang naman ‘yun.”

“‘Yung patapos na [‘yung laro], sabi niya sa ‘kin na bati na tayo. Tapos ngumiti lang ako. Sabi ko ‘Sige’,” Amer said.
