SOURCES: Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado to miss PSL Invitational

Creamline Cool Smashers Alyssa Valdez and Jia Morado will not be participating with the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team in the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Invitational Cup, which kicks off on Saturday.

A source closely monitoring the situation told Tiebreaker Times that the pair will not play for the national team due to their commitment with their mother team.

The Cool Smashers are seeking their first championship in the PVL and are currently in prime position to take the Reinforced Conference tiara after taking an outright berth to the semifinals.

Late 2017, Valdez herself expressed her full commitment with Creamline for 2018 after missing several crucial junctures of the Cool Smashers’ PVL season due to her commitment with the national team and a stint in Taiwan, both of which ended with a pair of bronze medal finishes.

Another source explained the timeline of events.

On June 14, the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Incorporated sent a letter to Rebisco, expressing the extent the pairs’ commitment to the national team.

Four days later, the LVPI received a reply in the negative via a formal letter.

Rebisco has been a firm supporter of the national team, even sponsoring the team that went to the Asian Club Championship last year.
