Robert Bolick showcases his inner-Scottie Thompson

Robert Bolick sure watched the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.

During the Finals, Scottie Thompson had his breakthrough moment during the six-game clash, averaging 10.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game. With the young product of University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas steering the wheel, the Barangay Ginebra Kings ended their 21-year drought in the mid-season classic.

Known for trying to emuliate his idols, the 22-year-old did his own impression of the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals Most Valuable Player.

The 6-foot-1 finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists, powering the San Beda University Red Lions’ 80-76 overtime win over their arch-rivals Letran Knights.

And the Red Lions needed every rebound from the graduating Red Lion as the Knights are the leading rebounding team in the league.

“Bago kami nung game nung Thursday marami akong offensive rebounds eh. Sakto diba? Kung kaya ni Scottie, kaya ko rin! Scottie! Kita mo mga rebound ko?

“Kahit ginugulangan ko, tinutulak ko mga yan, tinutulungan ko lang yung team,” shared Bolick, who was averaging 3.3 rebounds prior to this game. “Kasi yung Letran wala silang import kaya nag-gagang rebound talaga sila so pag tumitira kasi dinodouble nila si Donald [Tankoua] sa boxout eh, tapos papasok si [JP] Calvo.”

Besides the rebounding, Bolick also showed his scoring prowess, knocking down a run-stopping triple with 3:11 left in regulation and two clutch free throws to seal the win.

“Siguro chance ko na rin, sa scouting report kasi di ako nag rerebound sa ibang games so tinry ko lang eh medyo maganda naman so tuloy ko lang mga Scottie rebound.”

Coach Boyet Fernandez could only nod in approval as Bolick was saying this.
