San Beda earns first win in Cesca Racraquin’s return

After three losses to start the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, the San Beda University Lady Red Spikers plucked their first win, continuing the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Lady Stags’ misery, 25-14, 21-25, 25-20, 25-16, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Missing her team’s last two matches due to a sprained ankle, captain Cesca Racraquin powered San Beda, tallying 18 points off nine attacks and nine aces.

Racraquin’s serving was particularly clutch in the third set, taking the Lady Red Spikers from an 11-14 deficit to a 19-15 lead. The NCAA Season 93 Women’s Volleyball runners-up then led until the fourth set to close the match.

“‘Yung mga huling games kasi namin, napansin ko na parang wala kaming leader. Natamaan ako doon kasi ako dapat talaga ‘yung leader na ‘yun,” said Racraquin.

Nieza Viray added 15 points while Satrriani Espiritu paced San Beda with 13 markers.

The Lady Red Spikers (1-3) take on the Perpetual Lady Altas (1-3) next Sunday at the same venue.

Graduating captain Joyce Sta. Rita topped the Lady Stags with 13 points while rookie Sofia Sarmiento added 10 markers.

The Lady Stags (0-4) face the CSB Lady Blazers (1-3) also next Sunday.
