Top-ranked Meggie Ochoa gave the Philippines its first-ever Asian Games medal in the 2018 Asian Games, winning bronze after outlasting compatriot and junior Kaila Napoles in the bronze medal match of the women’s -49kg division.
Ochoa, who was upset by Vietnam’s Thi Thanh Minh, won via points, 2-0.
This is the Philippines’ sixth bronze medal in the continental meet.
The other five bronzes came from the men’s poomsae team, the women’s poomsae team, Pauline Lopez, Agatha Wong, and Divine Wally.
