Letran booster Al Chua strongly denies talks with Aldin Ayo

Why fix what isn’t broken?

Letran’s Special Assitant to the Rector for Sports Development Alfrancis Chua made the quip regarding rumors that the Knights are bringing back embattled University of Santo Tomas head coach Aldin Ayo.

“Not under my umbrella. No way,” read Chua’s comment on current Letran head coach Bonnie Tan’s post.

Moments after the UAAP Board of Management Directors’ meeting on Thursday afternoon, in which it recommended that the Board of Trustees impose a sanction on Ayo for holding a training camp in Capoy, Sorsogon, a post on social media gained traction that the mentor who steered the Knights to the NCAA Season 91 championships was bound for a homecoming.

The post also cited that Letran’s recruitment of Brent Paraiso and Ira Bataller is serving as writing on the wall for the impending comeback.

Chua, who has been supporting the school’s athletic program for the last three years, doused fire.

“Baka sa ibang Letran papunta coach nila. Iisa lang ang Letran na alam ko at ang coach dun ay si Bonnie Tan,” quipped Chua as Letran has satellite campuses in Laguna, Bataan, and Pangasinan.

Just like Ayo, Tan, a product of University of Santo Tomas, was able to steer the Knights to the top during his first term as head coach last season.

Ayo left Letran after Season 91 and went to La Salle for two years.
