Reunion? Greg Slaughter sends off Japeth as Aguilar heads to PBA bubble

Greg Slaughter took to Instagram on Thursday morning to wish his Ginebra teammate Japeth Aguilar good luck in the upcoming PBA season resumption.

The 7-foot slotman posted a photo of him and his good pal in what appears to be a recent meet-up between the Barangay’s famed twin towers.

“Good luck in the bubble, brother,” wrote Slaughter in the caption of his post, which has nearly 4,280 likes and 69 comments as of this posting.

“Thanks, brother. Hope to play with you soon,” was the response of Aguilar, on the other hand.

The duo last played together in last season’s Governors’ Cup Finals. There, the Gin Kings beat Meralco for their third title in the season-ending tilt in four years.

Aguilar earned that series’ Finals Most Valuable Player, the first time in his storied career that he won the award.

With him showing that he can lead the Gin Kings, the crowd darlings were among the favorites in the 2020 Philippine Cup.

However, their twin towers fell with Slaughter’s surprising announcement that he was taking a break following the expiration of his contract. Slaughter then flew to the United States back in March. He spent the next seven months training in an effort to improve his game further.

But just recently, the Cebuano cager has returned to the country, which could be a sign that he’s ready to continue his PBA career.

And his IG post with Aguilar could be another sign that the one-time Best Player of the Conference is set for a comeback to the Barangay.

Meanwhile, Aguilar has yet to enter the PBA’s bubble in Clark, Pampanga as he reportedly underwent rehabilitation for an old injury. The 2019 Governors’ Cup Finals Most Valuable Player, though, is expected to join the Gin Kings this Thursday, per Coach Tim Cone.

Ginebra is close to having a complete lineup ahead of its opening day clash with the NLEX Road Warriors this Sunday.
