Ray Parks on 40-point outing: ‘I’m tired of being forgotten’

“I’m tired of being forgotten.”

Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. was as straightforward as he could be, refusing to hide how he felt.

So on Tuesday evening, in his first game back for TNT, the 27-year-old sent a statement — or better yet, a reminder.

Parks Jr. dazzled for 40 points alongside 11 rebounds, powering Tropang GIGA to a dominant 112-101 win over Terrafirma.

The 6-foot-4 guard shot a whopping 72-percent from the field. He also filled up the stat sheet with five assists, a steal, and a block in over 38 minutes.

That’s now his new career-high, eclipsing the 39 he made last season — coincidentally, in a loss to TNT, while he was still with Blackwater.

“I feel like I’ve been slept on so I just want to use this time to really just showcase my game and all the hard work I’ve been putting in.”

The 2018 2nd overall pick didn’t make it all about himself, though. Instead, he expressed his gratitude for the support that his teammates have been giving him.

“I’m just glad my teammates trust me enough to put the ball in my hands and just lead,” he said. “Like Kuya Jayson [Castro] has really always been in my ear, and all my vets, my teammates encouraging one another

“And every time we knock down a shot, it doesn’t matter who. We’re happy for one another,” he added.

“Everything is genuine.”

Parks Jr. feels most ecstatic about the collective effort the Tropang GIGA put in that propelled them to a 2-0 card.

“We know that we’re still feeling it out. Tulad ng sabi ni Roger [Pogoy], nakikiramdam pa kami, kumakapa pa kami, pero the team came out with great effort today.”
