Kevin Ferrer frustrated as plantar injury is on and off

Kevin Ferrer could only watch helplessly from the sidelines as his NorthPort absorbed a narrow 68-70 defeat in the hands of Rain or Shine, Sunday.

The 6-foot-4 winger was eager to help his side earn its first win of the tournament, but had to sit this one out thanks to a swollen right foot.

With that, Coach Pido Jarencio only had 11 players versus the Elasto Painters as they continue to wait for doctor clearance for Jonathan Grey.

“Sa paa ko kasi, minsan namamaga, minsan okay,” he disclosed to Tiebreaker Times the day after the stinging loss.

The former University of Santo Tomas star revealed it is due to the hemangioma found on the plantar side of his foot.

The same issue caused Ferrer to miss the first weeks of the Batang Pier’s per-batch workouts, which began late August.

“Meron kasing hemangioma sa may plantar ko,” sadly admitted the 27-year-old, who’s now in his fourth season in the pros.

Ferrer is now listed as day-to-day. NorthPort hopes for the best for him, especially it needs all the help it can get.

Following Sunday’s stinging loss, the Batang Pier have sunken second to the last in the team standings with a 0-3 record.

The 2016 Gilas draftee said that he will have his foot checked after the season taking place in the bubble mounted at the Clark Freeport Zone.

“After nitong bubble, magpapa-check up ulit ako kung anong next step na gagawin sa akin,” he said.

“Meron na kasing nagawa na sa akin.”

Ferrer has played two games so far this season. He has averages of 8.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in 18 minutes of playing time.
